The population of Marysville was 9,684, according to the 2000 census, with 4,025 families and 2,741 families living in the city. The ethnic composition of the city is distributed by 98.18% white, 0.30% native Americans, 0.43% Asian Americans, 0.01% Pacific Islanders, 0.18% African Americans, 0.57% mixed or more. The number of families reached 4,025, of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. The percentage of couples living together reached 57.4% of the total total family, 8.0% had female breadwinners without a partner, and 31.9% were non-family. Of all families, 28.5% were individuals and 14.3% were single people aged 65 and over. The average household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 2.40. The ethnic composition of the city is distributed by 90.4% whites, 0.3% Native Americans, 2.3% Asian Americans, 0.1% Pacific Islanders, 4.5% African Americans, 1.8% mixed or more. There were 7,314 families, 41.7% of whom had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% of the total number of families, 11.6% of families had female breadwinners without a partner, 4.4% of families had male breadwinners without a partner and 31.0% of non-family members. Of all families, 25.2% were individuals and 8.1% were with only one person aged 65 and over. The average household size was 3.16 and the average family size was 2.62. The average age of the population is 33.1 years old. 26.6% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.6% was between 18 and 24, 36.1% was under the age of 25 and 44, 20.7% was between 45 and 64 and 8.1% was under the age of 65 and above. The sexual structure of the population is distributed by 42.8% male and 57.2% female.
